Possumblog

Not in the clamor of the crowded street, not in the shouts and plaudits of the throng, but in ourselves, are triumph and defeat.--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

REDIRECT ALERT! (Scroll down past this mess if you're trying to read an archived post. Thanks. No, really, thanks.)

Due to my inability to control my temper and complacently accept continued silliness with not-quite-as-reliable-as-it-ought-to-be Blogger/Blogspot, your beloved Possumblog will now waddle across the Information Dirt Road and park its prehensile tail at http://possumblog.mu.nu.

This site will remain in place as a backup in case Munuvia gets hit by a bus or something, but I don't think they have as much trouble with this as some places do. ::cough::blogspot::cough:: So click here and adjust your links. I apologize for the inconvenience, but it's one of those things.

From the Comments!

Nate McCord asks in part: [...] And how did you get that cool little possum pic in your comment post?

Well, funny you should ask.

HaloScan has been having some trouble lately with something, that I assume was related to some server or service upgrades or something. I came in yesterday and noticed a little blue box over to the side of the various comments, and was mystified until I ran my mouse pointer over it. No link, but a little pop-up title that said simply, "Gravatar."

TO GOOGLE I FLEW, and it turns out that Gravatar means "Globally Recognized Avatar," and they have a free deal that you can sign up for to have your own personal little avatar follow you on your comments on various enabled sites. I suppose HaloScan has enabled this feature, creating yet more opportunity for abuse and kludginess, but hey. Whatever, right?

So, I signed up and went to the Jung Society of Atlanta and appropriated their line drawing of a possum and submitted it, and now, every time I comment on someone's site that can handle it, a tiny 80x80 pixel G-rated picture of a possum shows up. You can also change it to something else, and I might change it to a picture of Chet the E-Mail Boy sometime in the future.
