I'm ready for my closeup, Mr. DeMille... Hollywood project to be filmed in Alabama
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- After being frustrated in the past when major films set in Alabama wound up being filmed elsewhere, Alabama has landed a Columbia Pictures project that will star five-time Oscar nominee Albert Finney.

The movie, "Big Fish," is based on a novel by Birmingham native Daniel Wallace. Tim Burton, whose previous projects include the first two "Batman" movies, will direct for Columbia Pictures, The Birmingham News reported.

The filmmakers will be in Alabama for six to eight months and plan to start shooting in January, said Brian Kurlander, director of the Alabama Film Office. They will use several locations around the state. [...]
