Possumblog

Not in the clamor of the crowded street, not in the shouts and plaudits of the throng, but in ourselves, are triumph and defeat.--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

REDIRECT ALERT! (Scroll down past this mess if you're trying to read an archived post. Thanks. No, really, thanks.)

Due to my inability to control my temper and complacently accept continued silliness with not-quite-as-reliable-as-it-ought-to-be Blogger/Blogspot, your beloved Possumblog will now waddle across the Information Dirt Road and park its prehensile tail at http://possumblog.mu.nu.

This site will remain in place as a backup in case Munuvia gets hit by a bus or something, but I don't think they have as much trouble with this as some places do. ::cough::blogspot::cough:: So click here and adjust your links. I apologize for the inconvenience, but it's one of those things.

Some Democrats opposed to Rice nomination

By BARRY SCHWEID
The Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and other Democrats assailed President Bush's decision to go to war with Iraq Tuesday and declared they would oppose Condoleezza Rice's nomination as secretary of state as a principal architect of a failed policy.

Kennedy, of Massachusetts, keyed the Democratic attack with charges that Rice, as Bush's national security adviser, provided Congress with "false reasons" for going to war. Had she not, he said in a speech, "it might have changed the course of history." […]

Well, yes, that’s possible, as is the possibility that the course of history could have been changed had Teddy not been such an able swimmer. But be that as it may, the rest of the opposition listed in the article include:

…Sen. Mark Dayton, D-Minn.… Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich.… Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind….Sens. Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia and Barbara Boxer of California…

For some reason, this list of names doesn’t seem very compelling. It is heartening, however, that only one of the august members of the opposition is a former Kleagle.
