Possumblog

Not in the clamor of the crowded street, not in the shouts and plaudits of the throng, but in ourselves, are triumph and defeat.--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

REDIRECT ALERT! (Scroll down past this mess if you're trying to read an archived post. Thanks. No, really, thanks.)

Due to my inability to control my temper and complacently accept continued silliness with not-quite-as-reliable-as-it-ought-to-be Blogger/Blogspot, your beloved Possumblog will now waddle across the Information Dirt Road and park its prehensile tail at http://possumblog.mu.nu.

This site will remain in place as a backup in case Munuvia gets hit by a bus or something, but I don't think they have as much trouble with this as some places do. ::cough::blogspot::cough:: So click here and adjust your links. I apologize for the inconvenience, but it's one of those things.

Scarface fanatic faces drug charges after Norwood raid

A Birmingham man who idolized 1980s big screen gangster Scarface was hit with drug charges himself Monday after authorities raided his Norwood home.

A team of Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies and special weapons and tactics team officers burst into the Norwood Circle home of Ronald Demetrius Samuels about 8:30 a.m., seizing six guns, more than a pound of cocaine, nearly $50,000 in cash and other drug-trade tools.

The 26-year-old Samuels, a first-time offender, was being held Monday evening in the county jail on $1 million bond. [...]

Drug deputies and all 16 members of the sheriff's SWAT team went to the home Monday, finding Ronald Samuels in his bedroom with a small arsenal of weapons, including four handguns, a rifle and a shotgun. He didn't resist arrest, Hale said.

Authorities said the room was decorated with life-sized posters of Al Pacino in his 1983 portrayal of movie character Tony "Scarface" Montana, a Cuban refugee who quickly rose to become a powerful cocaine dealer in Miami.

"The guy was infatuated with Scarface," Myers said. "There were posters all over his house. Seven or eight in the bedroom." [...]

Top o'the world, Ma!

One imagines the county lockup will have far fewer options for room deocorations.
