Possumblog

Not in the clamor of the crowded street, not in the shouts and plaudits of the throng, but in ourselves, are triumph and defeat.--Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

REDIRECT ALERT! (Scroll down past this mess if you're trying to read an archived post. Thanks. No, really, thanks.)

Due to my inability to control my temper and complacently accept continued silliness with not-quite-as-reliable-as-it-ought-to-be Blogger/Blogspot, your beloved Possumblog will now waddle across the Information Dirt Road and park its prehensile tail at http://possumblog.mu.nu.

This site will remain in place as a backup in case Munuvia gets hit by a bus or something, but I don't think they have as much trouble with this as some places do. ::cough::blogspot::cough:: So click here and adjust your links. I apologize for the inconvenience, but it's one of those things.

Odd, but I'll take it where I can get it...

I posted the story yesterday about the two girls who were captured in Birmingham after trying to elude police, including shooting at them out the back window. I hadn't heard any more about it on the local news or in the paper, but it seems from this story by WLTB NBC-3 (Jackson, MS) reporter Dawn Russell that the girls started their crime spree in Vicksburg, Mississippi--
"It's shocking and hard to believe. But it did happen," Chad Chatman said. Chatman manages the Fast Lane convenience store on Highway 61 in Vicksburg where two suspects stole a car Wednesday morning.

"This gentleman pulled up in a Cadillac car and came in the store to purchase something," Chatman said. But before he could even get inside the store, the car -- which he left running -- took off down Highway 61 and onto the interstate.

"The two young ladies jumped in the car, backed up and almost hit a truck over there," Chatman said.

Police say the women were on the run in a stolen Honda Civic when it got a flat tire. So, they stopped at Fast Lane and picked up some biscuits and a new ride. The next thing police know are the women are arrested in Birmingham, Alabama, but not without a fight.

"The first word I said to my supervisor was modern day Thelma and Louise," said Sgt. Tom Wilson of the Vicksburg Police Department.

But their names were Tonya Hafley and Dorrie Hughes, 19- and 20-year-old sisters. Police say the women ran from officers before crashing into a roadblock with the stolen Cadillac. [...]
AND, the story even has pictures of the girls...they're kinda cute, in that homicidal maniac sort of way.
